Thank you for everything you do to support AMBUCS and the communities we serve. Your time, energy, and commitment continue to make a real difference across the country.
As we move into the heart of summer, we’re gearing up for the National Conference in Myrtle Beach and hosting an Action Hour focused on member retention and strengthening our chapters. See below for an Amtryke stock update, Spring Round Up Chapters, and additional news from across the organization.
We’re grateful to have you as part of this mission and look forward to all we will accomplish together in the months ahead.
Registration is open for the 2026 National AMBUCS Conference, August 26–29 in beautiful Myrtle Beach! Click the buttons below to learn more.
Chapters are invited to sponsor riders for the 2026 Great Amtryke Giveaway in Myrtle Beach at this year’s National Conference. Your support helps create an unforgettable experience as local recipients and their families join AMBUCS members from across the country to celebrate mobility, independence, and opportunity.
Join a panel of AMBUCS members who have built strong, engaged chapters and learn what’s working in their communities. We’ll discuss why people join AMBUCS today, what keeps members engaged, and the strategies chapters are using to attract new members while retaining existing ones.
Panelists will share practical ideas your chapter can replicate, lessons they’ve learned along the way, and advice for chapters looking to grow stronger and build lasting momentum.

AEFT online is a great opportunity to invite volunteer therapists to join your chapter. AMBUCS therapist membership now includes full access to AEFT Online at no additional cost, giving them valuable continuing education and professional development resources.
The AEFT course is currently approved in the state of Texas for 4 Core Competency Units (CCUs). Many states recognize or accept continuing education approvals obtained through Texas reciprocity standards; however, participants are encouraged to verify acceptance and specific requirements with their individual state licensing or credentialing board.
As part of the Fred Sammons Amtryke Training and Research Academy in our new headquarters, we’re creating a special display celebrating the life and work of Dr. Fred Sammons, one of the most influential figures in the adaptive equipment world.
The academy represents a long-term investment in education, research, innovation, and clinical excellence that will impact thousands of therapists, riders, and Amtryke advocates for decades to come. As we build this vision for the future, we also want to preserve and share the story of the man whose legacy helped make it possible.
We’re looking for photographs of Dr. Sammons throughout his life and career. Whether from professional events, personal memories, or moments that capture his passion and impact, we’d be honored to include them.
If you have photos you’d be willing to share, please send them to adamr@ambucs.org.
President’s Post: A monthly message from AMBUCS National President, Gordon Shaw, sharing updates, insights, and inspiration as we work together to create mobility and independence for all.
The Big Hat History Project is a new feature honoring past and present Big Hat Presidents. Each page will include a photo and a story, building toward a complete booklet of Big Hat history to be shared at the next conference.
